Just after the New Year, we headed out to Sin City for the Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction at Bally’s Hotel & Casino. There were dozens of bikes, American and European, up for auction as well as motorcycle memorabilia. Many of the bikes purported to be from the personal collection of Dennis Hopper. Among the highlights were several Harley Davidson and Norton track bikes, several rare Ducatis, a couple dozen late ’60’s to early ’70’s Triumphs, and even a 1950 Vincent White Shadow which sold for over $220,000. Most of the bikes were to pricy for our wallets but there were plenty of buyers shelling out big money, including Wayne Carini from Velocity channel’s Chasing Classic Cars.
